As the dragon festival arrives, millions of Chinese will enjoy a well-known Chinese cuisine:Zongzi，a special rice dumpling wrapped in bamboo leaves. Originally as a ceremonial food, the Zongzi gradually became a national favorite festival food. However, it also fuels one of the greatest cuisine debates in China:Should Zongzi be sweet or Savory?

For many Chinese, the filling is the soul of Zongzi. There are two styles of Zong Zi making:The sweet style Zongzi, which adds sweet date、honey, or red bean paste into it, makes it a hearty dessert that is perfect with a cup of tea. The Savory style Zongzi, on the other hand, is cooked with salted egg yolk, and seasoned beef or pork belly. It makes Zongzi a fulfilling and tasty dish for a family dinner.

But which style should be the"king of Zongzi"? People have been debating it for decades. There is an interesting contrast:traditionally, the people in south China generally prefer sweet foods while those in the north like salty foods. However, when it comes to Zongzi, it's the opposite. This is another example of the depth and diversity of Chinese cuisine culture.
