The 11th Silk Road Film Festival, which kicked off on Saturday in Xi'an, capital city of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, will conclude on Wednesday.

This year's festival, themed"Silk Road Connecting the World, Light and Shadow Illuminating Chang'an", focuses on cultural exchanges along the Silk Road.

The event drew 2, 065 films from 136 countries and regions, setting a new record for submissions. These films will compete in 10 categories of the Golden Silk Road Awards.

Major films such as The Old Gun, Like a Rolling Stone and The Sinking of the Lisbon Maru are among those shortlisted for the awards.

The five-day event will include activities such as film cooperation forums, film concerts, and screenings of outstanding works.

The final results of the awards will be announced on Wednesday.
